Who is IPET?The Vancouver PETSCAN Centre is owned and operated by International PET Diagnostics Inc. (IPET), a British Columbia corporation. The Vancouver PETSCAN Centre is the first privately held, fee for use, dedicated clinical PET facility in Canada. International PET Diagnostics Inc. was established in January 1999 with the goal of bringing clinical PET diagnostics to Canada. The Vancouver PETSCAN Centre began operating in October 2000. The Vancouver PETSCAN Centre represents an investment of approximately $4 million, including the cost of building, the facility at the BC Research and Innovation Complex, the PET scanner, associated computer hardware and laboratory equipment. The company's long term plans include purchasing a cyclotron to produce radiolabeled tracers on-site, and additional PET scan facilities at other Canadian locations. Mission StatementIPET's mission is to promote Positron Emission Tomography, to provide this technology to those in need, and to support research to further enhance its effectiveness in oncology, cardiology and neurology.
